We have been bargaining for nearly a year! At every turn, the administration has tried to slow us down. That’s why it’s so important for all of us to take action—as we have seen many times, when we push, they move. And that was certainly the case last week. Since the beginning of the semester, we’ve turned up the heat with our gauntlet to open mediation. At mediation last Friday (January 31), admin finally moved, and we were able to sign tentative agreements on Grievance and Arbitration, Non-Discrimination, Proposed Amendments on Previous TAs, Entire Agreement, and Management Rights.

They moved because WE made them move. However, admin’s proposals are far apart from ours on salary, workload, and other economic issues—so now is the time to keep pushing. We can win the contract we all deserve! It will take all of us.

Please RSVP for one of our General Membership Meetings (GMM) this week. We will be meeting this Thursday at 4:30pm in CVA 151. Children are welcome. If you can’t make the in-person session, there is a second meeting on Zoom on Friday at 9am. (Zoom registration required). Bring your questions about bargaining, next steps, immigration/int’l students and faculty*, or anything else!

Our Bargaining Team will be headed to the next mediation session this Wednesday, Feb. 5. Unfortunately, we can’t all attend in person, but let’s keep pushing hard across campus so they can push hard inside the room.
